More Information About this Project
Project Needs and Beneficiaries
The New Orleans Public School District was one of the lowest performing in the country. Hurricane Katrina destroyed the city of institutions and infrastructure. What was salvaged from the wreckage of the storm is inappropriate in the new system. Eisenhower, Behrman and Harte elementary schools need funds to replace antiquated books and make changes necessary to allow residents and their children to return home and return to school.
Activities
Raise funds for Eisenhower, Behrman and Harte elementary schools. Enable them to purchase library books, classroom materials, learning software, and extracurricular equipment including computers.

Why this Project is Important
Potential Long Term Impact
New Orleans has been inaccessible to families with children due to a lack of schools. Families will return to a rejuvenated education system and students will gain the foundation for lifelong learning once absent in a failing school system.
Project Message
With over 100,000 people displaced and damages now estimated at more than $60 billion dollars, Hurricane Katrina has been labeled as the worst natural disaster in US history.
