Project Needs and Beneficiaries
The beneficiaries are the people living with HIV in the city of São Bernardo do Campo in São Paulo, Brazil, particularly ones in vulnerable situations--the homeless, orphaned children, and families without any resources. GAAVI hosts 30 homeless adults in its "Shelter Home," as well as 10 orphan children in "Our Little Corner." Furthermore, it provides domestic assistance to 20 underprivileged families affected by HIV. These families have 50 children, of which 20 are also living with HIV.
Activities
GAAVI will provide therapeutic, emotional and spiritual support to people living with HIV, by supplying them with food and medicine, assisting the beneficiaries in their homes through weekly visits and giving permanent counselling to their children.
Expected Outcomes
GAAVI will create a more supportive environment for those living with HIV/AIDS and increase public education about the disease.
