Project Needs and Beneficiaries
The American Red Cross is working with the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to immediately address the basic needs of those affected by the earthquake that devastated China on May 12, 2008. Red Cross is on the ground assisting with damage assessment and search and rescue, as well as providing services to survivors thanks to the international Red Cross network of highly trained disaster responders.
Activities
The Red Cross is mobilizing relief supplies, delegates and financial assistance to support the Red Cross Society of China's emergency response efforts, which include distributing tents, quilts, food and water to those affected by the earthquake.
Expected Outcomes
By providing emergency relief supplies, the Red Cross is meeting the basic needs of the thousands affected by the earthquake. The immediate distribution of these supplies wil save lives and enable people to rebuild their communities
