Project Information

Project duration: 3 Years

Project's area of focus: Communication, education, media series to inspire children to go to school & BE! entrepreneurs.
Project Needs and Beneficiaries

In 2020 there will be over 210 million unemployed people in India, 50% will be below the age of 30 and currently half of them are dropping out of school. And, even if they are staying in school, they are not learning skills to be able to create their own opportunities. Entrepreneurship is imperative to fill this gap. Targeting children from families living on less than 2 USD/day, i.e. 41% of India, BE! gives girls and boys the entrepreneurial skills they need to fulfill their potential.

Activities
BE! storybooks – reach 5 million school-going children in one state. Movies, BE!’s 13-part television series to be aired on national television. Radio, BE!’s 13-part radio series in four languages will reach children who do not have access to TV.
Expected Outcomes
Be! will reach over 50 million girls over the next 5 years through schools, TV and radio networks. Be! makes girls realise they already have the skills to create sustainable business models that change the world.
Project Message
Be! inspires millions of girls to believe in their potential to change their lives & the world around them, by choosing to become entrepreneurs. It is our most exciting and important project ever

Personnel Overview
Lisa Heydlauff - Director

Lisa Heydlauff founded GTS in 2003 believing that media could change the way children go to school. Lisa grew up in UK, USA & Canada, & now calls India home. Changing schools frequently gave her the idea that children around the world could understand each other through the shared experience of going to school. Lisa was a teacher in London, then moved to India, worked for UNICEF & then began GTS.
