Project's focus area: services for teen mothers
In Kenya, about 400 adolescent girls give birth daily, while an estimated 70,000 are expelled from school annually after getting pregnant. The project will provide vulnerable teen girls and mums with reproductive health information, life-skills and training on small-scale business to enable them to become economically self-sufficient. The project will also build their communication, decision-making skills to ensure they are not vulnerable to sexual abuse and are capable of making smart decisions
The project will provide hands-on training on entrepreneurship to ensure teen mums launch, market and sustain their business, workshops on sexuality to build their decision-making skills and remedial lessons to enable them to resume classes. |
The project will rehabilitate and equip 200 teen mothers with educational, economic and life-skills to ensure they are able to increase their self-esteem, solidify their incomes and have the skills to make informed sexuality decisions. |

"I was kicked from school; vilified by my family and my boyfriend deserted me after I gave birth to twins. Joining the project has boosted my confidence and I can now feed my children."
