Although rural communities face many hardships, very few are prepared to take action to address them since poverty, insecurity and the difficulty involved in doing so hold them back. This fellowship supports tribal women and men, typically from poor households, who have already shown potential but need help to mobilize their community.

The selected Fellows are supported for a period of two years for which they are provided with a Fellowship amount of Rs.25,000. They are also given targeted support in the form of learning workshops and guidance from experienced field workers. |

A variety of community-specific issues will be addressed and the capacity of the community to address other issues in the future will be enhanced. Communities will feel more encouraged to take responsibility for bringing about social change. |

The role of community leaders is extremely important as otherwise the poor often just remain mere spectators of processes affecting their lives and expect that the State will solve their problems.
