Project duration: 1 Year
Project's focus area: empowerment support for girls
Oasis activities and mentoring opportunities help girls face their many struggles, including:
• Constant sexual harassment in the community;
• Many immigrant families do not allow their daughters to attend coeducational programs. Because Oasis is a girls-only program, it offers a unique resource;
• As a “gang-neutral” site, Oasis represents an important alternative to gang life, building girls' cross-ethnic alliances and appreciation.

1) We use arts activities to channel girls' positive and negative energies.
2) We conduct icebreakers and team-building exercises, resulting in improved interpersonal skills and communication.
3) Our workshops help girls develop positive self-image |

Girl 2 Girl will touch the lives of 60 middle school girls. The overall goal is to ensure girls ages are healthy, well educated, and well prepared for the transition from middle to high school |

I love Oasis because we talk about our problems [and] staff help me when I have trouble. It helps to feel safe in the group. During the summer, I go to Oasis and do fun things like art and baking.
