Gift Card FAQ

How will the cards be mailed?
All orders will be mailed through the US Postal Service. If you require expedited shipping, you can place your order by calling us at (202) 232-5784 (additional fees are required for rush shipping).

How much does expedited shipping cost?
2 day FedEx costs $15 for up to 40 cards + $.10 for every card thereafter. Standard overnight costs $20 for up to 20 cards + $.50 for every card thereafter. Orders exceeding these amounts will be priced according to the FedEx rate/distance calculator.

Is it really biodegradable?
Yes, it is corn-based and will break down into environmentally-friendly compounds once it's thrown away. The card won't break down in normal use, though and is designed to decompose in natural compounds like water and carbon dioxide.

What does the card text say?
"Give. Support grassroots projects and causes around the world"

Is the card tax deductible?
Absolutely. When you purchase a GlobalGiving gift card, 100% of the purchase price is tax deductible.

How many can I order?
As many as you want, although online orders are limited to 50 cards per transaction. If you need more, call us at (202) 232-5784.

How is the card sent?
It is sent in a white "invitation-sized" GlobalGiving envelope.

When will I receive my cards?
We process and ship orders within 2-3 business days. Cards are sent via US Postal Service.

When will the card be activated?
The card will be activated within 24 hours of purchase.

GlobalGiving Gift Cards - General Information

Gift cards enable anyone to "give" the gift of giving to a friend, colleague, or loved one. With a gift card, you decide how much you'd like to give, and the recipient gets the gift card via "snail mail." The recipient can then browse all the projects on www.globalgiving.com and "spend" the gift card by directing the donation to the project of his/her choice.

Terms & Conditions

Gift cards can be purchased using a credit card or PayPal. We are unable to accept checks to pay for gift cards at this time. Gift cards are 100% tax deductible for the purchaser, but redeeming a gift card is not a tax-deductible event.

Gift cards may be purchased in any even-dollar amount (minimum $10).

Upon redeeming the card, the recipient can make a donation greater than the amount of the gift card, and pay for the balance using his/her own credit card/PayPal account (please note that the minimum "added" donation must be at least US $10).

The gift card must be applied in full assuming it is equal to/less than the amount being donated (i.e. recipient cannot elect to use only part of the gift card UNLESS the donation is less than the amount of the gift card).

Recipient cannot use a gift card to purchase another gift card.

Unless otherwise specified, the gift card is valid for one year from date of purchase. If a gift card is not redeemed prior to the expiration date, those funds will be transferred to the GlobalGiving Matching Fund. Learn more about the GlobalGiving Matching Fund.

GlobalGiving Guaranteed applies to recipients/redeemers, but not purchasers, of Gift Certificates/Gift Cards. Donors who make contributions "in honor of" someone else are also eligible to redeem the guarantee.
