The International Youth Volunteerism Summit (IYVS) develops the capacity of young people to create and participate in community change initiatives around the world. The projects featured here were developed during the 2007 IYVS Conference and were part of a competition that rewarded those initiatives that generated the most support, in terms of funds raised and number of supporters.

Creating a Sustainable Water Initiative in Jazmin and HOPE HIV/AIDS: Fighting AIDS in Zimbabwe raised the most dollars (way to go!) and have been offered a permanent spot on GlobalGiving.

In addition, in recognition of the incredible outreach done by Project FOCUS to acquire the most donors, GlobalGiving has invited them join the GlobalGiving community as well.IYVS has nominated a fourth and final winner — A community-run clinic in Sikoro for 28000 people — which will remain a part of the GlobalGiving project community.

HOPE HIV/AIDS: Fighting AIDS in Zimbabwe Zimbabwe, Health This project expands resources in Zimbabwean communities, where AIDS is a serious threat. The effort empowers people to fight the epidemic though focusing primarily on community-based action. read updates from the field

A community-run clinic in Sikoro for 28000 people Mali, Health This project will be providing some funding, accountability, institutional support, technical support and consulting to a community committee that is in charge of creating a clinic for basic care. read updates from the field

In the case that a project participating in the IYVS Change Competition on GlobalGiving is not implemented within 180 days from the end of the competition, all funds/monies raised by the project during the competition will be reallocated to any other participating project that will be or is being implemented at the discretion of the individual leading said project that had raised these monies during the competition.
