Once donors have contributed to your project, GlobalGiving will ask you to submit additional documentation (if you have not already done so). This documentation is critical for determining that you are a charitable organization. The US government, and its laws pertaining to international philanthropy, prohibits us from sending you donations until you have submitted this documentation.

Once this documentation has been submitted, you can receive donations for up to two years. You DO NOT need to re-submit it for every disbursement. After two years, we will ask you to update the information.

Sending us this documentation can be time consuming; however, it is easier (and much less expensive) than setting up your own US 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. If you have any questions regarding this process, email .

  1. Annual report (or other program materials)
  2. Budget for current and past fiscal year. Budgets should include sources of income and expenditures.
  3. Audited financial statement. Please provide a recent audited financial statement; if your finances are not audited, additional documents may be requested.
  4. Organizational documents, such as articles of incorporation, charter, bylaws, certificates of incorporation, or certification from any state or national government agency (e.g. related to either status as a nonprofit, NGO, charitable, or social organization; and/or an organization's activities which may be regulated, such as health or education services.)
  5. Program descriptions and materials, such as brochures, pamphlets, web site printouts, and other public and printed information.
  6. List of references. Please provide the names and contact information for 2 references that have a professional relationship with your organization and are familiar with your activities.
  7. List of all Senior Staff and Board Members. To comply with the US Treasury guidelines, please send us a list of all staff and board members, which we will need to check against the Treasury Department's database before we approve due diligence.
  8. List of all Financial Institutions. Please list all the financial institutions where you are currently holding accounts. These will also be checked with the US Treasury's database.

We also will ask you to sign and return by fax an affidavit certifying that you exist as a charitable organization in your country of origin.

Schedule of Donations

We will begin disbursing your donations as soon as you as the funds raised exceed US $250. GlobalGiving sends checks to US-based organizations; we will wire funds to projects outside of the United States.

GlobalGiving disburses funds monthly.

GlobalGiving is hoping to experiment soon with less expensive, more efficient means of transferring funds. If you are interested in working with us on this project, please contact .
