Raising your profile on GlobalGiving

Each project page on the GlobalGiving Web site contains tabs for "Progress Report" and "Photo Gallery." Take advantage of these features! By updating these sections with new content, and communicating your project's accomplishments and results, you demonstrate accountability. In addition, you will improve your ranking on various "browse" pages. This combination of accountability and visibility positively influences people's decisions to give!

Progress reports also provide us with content for stories in our newsletters (4,500 subscribers), on our home page (30,000 hits per month), and in other communications with donors. We also encourage you to send us news about awards, achievements and outcomes as well as new project photos. We are eager to hear about your impact, and your successes. Donors like to hear stories that bring the project to life, and show how their dollars will be used and the accomplishments that result.

Read below for the how-to's of posting reports and photos.

Posting progress reports

Project Leaders can post updates and photos directly. When a new project is posted, you will be emailed a user ID and password. If you do not have a user ID and password, please email .

Once you are assigned a user ID and password, you can post your updates directly through the PE website.

After logging in, you will be at the Project Entry Home page. Since your project is active, hit the active tab and you should see you project. Now, scroll down to your project and hit the progress report button. This will bring you to the progress report entry page, where you have three options:

  • Enter your information and links to reports or updates on your own website.
  • Upload progress report documents (e.g. in Microsoft Word or PDF format).
  • Type in a brief report.

Creating a compelling progress report

We recommend including the following:

Activities that have taken place

  • What part(s) of the project are complete?
  • What positive impacts has the project had thus far   be specific about the number of lives touched, or tell one person or family's story. Donors like to see impact and number of beneficiaries.
  • Has your project changed at all from the original plan posted on GlobalGiving — how and why?
  • Talk about challenges you have faced in implementing your project.
  • What else remains to be done, what is needed to complete the project?

Focus on the impact your project has had, and share your success stories. Bringing your project to life by showing how you have affected people is powerful, effective and resonates with donors.
