World Camp for Kids

Mission

World Camp for Kids is designed to enrich the lives of impoverished children throughout the world. Our goal is to provide much needed education about locally challenging issues, build community pride and strengthen the children's sense of self-worth.

Programs

World Camp for Kids offers educational camps that not only teach youth nutrition but also, HIV/AIDS education, environmental awareness, creative arts and team building skills. The organization is currently working on opening a Street Shelter in Lilongwe, Malawi and a Youth Hostel in Lilongwe to provide a sustainable income for the Street Shelter.

Personnel Overview

Genevieve King - Outreach Coordinator
Genny began working with the organization in the Fall of 2001. She volunteered in Malawi with WCK last summer and plans on returning for the summer of 2003 as well. Genny has done research on the nutrition program and will be an asset in implementing the program this summer.

Baker Henson - Director
Baker began the organization with another co-founder. He has traveled to Africa four times working for WCK and has done an immense amount of research in developing the organization. He currently lives in Chapel Hill, NC and does a great deal of the work organizing volunteers and maintaining the organization.

Laura Ivey - Director
Laura is the other co-founder of the organization. She has also traveled to Africa four times working for WCK and has conducting a great deal of research for the organization. Laura currently lives in Asheville, NC where she works on coordinating important matters for the organization.
