Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Poor communities are characterized by lack of access to proper medical care and intervention services for their disabled children, particularly those with mental handicaps. This is compounded by ignorance about mental handicaps. Consequently, needs of children with mental handicaps have not been sufficiently addressed. Beneficiaries are persons with disabilities, specifically those with mental handicaps, and women, particularly mothers of children with mental handicaps.

Activities

To organize awareness programs, training programs for mothers of children with disabilities, establish a rehabilitation clinic, place trained community workers as home advisors, and to form Self-Help Groups of women and mothers of the disabled.
