More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

A child's success in life depends to a great extent on the quality of education the child receives. This is especially true for children living in impoverished communities. Center for Artistry in Teaching is reengineering the way teachers see themselves and the way they teach - to include their total mind, heart, and body, while incorporating spontaneity, critical thinking, and problem solving. The result is a re-energized educator who engages in the art of teaching.

Activities

CAT hopes to create classrooms where students participate more actively in learning by improve instruction for 750 additional students through working with 25 more teachers in 2004.

Why this Project is Important

Potential Long Term Impact

Create an atmosphere where teachers spend less time maintaining discipline and more time teaching, where teachers teach students to think critically and solve problems, and finally, where children feel safe and can focus on learning.

Project Message

I believe teachers are the key to education reform. I want every student to have a better experience in the classroom and get the most out of an education.
