More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. The majority of its population are subsistence farmers. They farm highly eroded mountainsides, are dependent on money lenders, and have little to no support from government services for health, education and agricultural production. Peasant organizations exist, yet many lack strong capacity or diversified leadership to promote self-reliance and development.

Activities

The program will strengthen the organizational structures of 8 peasant organizations to better manage agricultural production, income-generating activities, and improve community and reproductive health.
