More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Rural hospitals in Mai Chau were unable to support basic medical services because they lacked clean water and sanitary facilities. As a result, health problems, especially illnesses in children and reproductive health in women, continued to worsen. Doctors of the World installed water systems at 10 village hospitals that improved public health rapidly. GVE will provide engineering advice to improve the system design, which DOW needs to better provide public health in other villages of Vietnam.

Activities

Volunteer engineers will inspect water and sanitary facilities at the 10 rural hospitals in Mai Chau, develop schematic plans of each facility, and teach local residents how to maintain the facilities.
