The River Fund
Mission
The River Fund is dedicated to providing physical, emotional and spiritual support, to people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS and other life challenging illnesses and circumstances, as well as their loved ones and caregivers. We serve the poor, those who often are alone and in need regardless of a persons religion, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender or age.
Programs
Twice monthly meals for people living with HIV/AIDS & their families (2,500 yearly) - canned goods, personal care items, holiday presents & school supplies to those we serve; HIV/AIDS education & prevention; Women's long-term survival skills in Uganda; support for families in Uganda including widows, orphans, disabled groups; support for orphans and other vulnerable children in Uganda and India.

Personnel Overview
Rev. Fr. Centurio Olaboro - Director
Fr. Centurio is a Ugandan priest. He was orphaned when Idi Amin's soldiers killed his father. When his sister died of AIDS he promised to continue her work caring for orphans. The project has grown exponentially since then. He is a strong advocate for interfaith dialog. His parish in Tororo district is large with over 30 small churches and a congregation of over 25,000 people.
Jaya Canterbury-Counts, M.Ed. - Executive Director
Passionate about Africa & the needs of vulnerable children. Delegate to the UN General Assembly Special Session on AIDS in 2001. Attended the XIV International AIDS Conference in Barcelona in 2002. Visits Africa annually, particularly Uganda. Prior to 1996, worked ten years as a mental health counselor often with vulnerable clients with HIV/AIDS. M.Ed., Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, 1986
