CARE's Indonesia tsunami rebuilding program
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesThe lives of millions of people in India, Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Somalia have been torn apart by the December tsunami. They have lost not only loved ones, but also livelihoods, homes, infrastructure, and basic social services. They need sanitation and clean drinking water, shelter, and livelihoods. ActivitiesCARE will rehabilitate water sources, rebuild homes, provide fishing nets and boat repair, build poultry and goat stocks, offer technology training and trauma counseling, and ease access to loans. Funding InformationTotal Funding Received to Date: $50 Funding InformationThis project is now in implementation and no longer available for funding. Received funds will be used to accomplish concrete objectives as indicated in the project's "Activities" section. Updates will be posted under the "Progress Report" tab as they become available. Donors' contributions and pledges to this project totaled $50. The original project funding goal was $5,000. The coastline of Indonesia was closest to the epicenter of the earthquake that triggered the 2004 tsunami. Of the approximately 230,000 people killed, more than half were in Indonesia.
