Tsunami Recovery for 400 Sri Lankan Families
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesThe tsunami destroyed much of the village of Mullaitivu, including the fishing boats and other means of income generation, homes, schools, roads, and water facilities. SEED (Social Economical and Environmental Developers) provided emergency relief directly after the tsunami and now wishes to provide economic, infrastructure, and social development to 400 families in Mullaitivu. SEED uses the participatory approach, ensuring the rehabilitation projects align with the wishes of the community. ActivitiesThis project will: assist fisherman in rebuilding their boats, engines, and nets; support new income-generating activities; build permanent homes, toilets, roads, schools, and drinking water facilities; and help develop social community groups. Funding InformationTotal Funding Received to Date: $25,200 Funding InformationThis project is now in implementation and no longer available for funding. Received funds will be used to accomplish concrete objectives as indicated in the project's "Activities" section. Updates will be posted under the "Progress Report" tab as they become available. Donors' contributions and pledges to this project totaled $25,200. The original project funding goal was $50,000.
