Mission

CEMINA was founded in 1990 with the mission to promote radio as an instrument to strengthen the citizenship of Brazilian women. CEMINA´s goal was to use new information and communication technologies to expand the reach of services and develop new skills of women from a disadvantaged social sector. In 2002, CEMINA began a digital inclusion project that focuses on integrating radio and the Internet to train women leaders and provide Internet access to marginalized regions in Brazil.

Programs

Women's empowerment through communication: the program focuses in building the capacity of women to be change agents in their communities through the use of radio and digital technologies. In the last 7 years the program has developed the model radio-telecenter which associates the mobilizing power of radio with the internet. Criating also opportunities to generate income. This program now has been extended to build the capacity of youth to be change agents in their communities.
