Personnel Overview
Indira Jena - Founder/ Managing Trustee, Nirnaya
Indira is an economist with 20 years experience in the women’s movement, including heading a funding agency’s women’s department. She specializes in networking female employees in rural grassroots NGOs, and providing training on project management and monitoring. She is the author of Herstory, a book on the role of women in the Indian Independence struggle in the states of Orissa and Bihar.
Supriya Rao - Programs Associate. Nirnaya
Rao works towards strengthening Nirnaya’s mission by documenting grantee progress and learning about the relevance of global trends of the women’s funding movement and feminist and development campaigns to the work Nirnaya supports. She compiles the newsletter, prepares fundraising material and records case studies for benchmarking progress.
Syeda Faizunnisa - Manager, S.F.T. Training Center
Despite coming from a middle class background and facing much resistance from the people she knew, Faizunnisa had moved to live in the slum area where she had decided to begin her work. It is of great credit to her, being a woman of a minority community, to be able to cater to the needs of the marginalized sections of both the communities without any nepotism.
