Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Direct beneficiaries are 14 rural mothers and 42 children. Indirect beneficiaries are 60 rural mothers and 241 children. Total beneficiaries are, therefore, 74 mothers and 283 children.

Activities

Training mothers in strategies to improve skills and social development. Trained mothers then train peers at their children's schools. Establish a library with Strategy Handbooks. Newly trained mothers repeat above steps.

Potential Long Term Impact

After the program, the 14 rural mothers will go to 5 schools and teach what they have learned to other parents. As a result, 140 families altogether will be trained in cognitive stimulation skills.

Project "Empowering Rural Mothers as Home Educators"

Training for Women Mothers
Training mothers encourages their own development based on two objectives i) stimulate their own development can participate in their child's development as co-educators and trainers for the future, their children have appropriate development that enable them to enter the workforce and ii) from the previous point, there is a change in the self-esteem of these women co-educators and instructors, both in front of their children and in front of themselves. This new self-image on the basis of recognition of their skills and competencies, allows them to choose to participate in the workforce recognizing the benefits that such activity makes it easier in terms of autonomy, social and economic improvement.

The training took place in 4 sessions over four months. Each session had lasting two and a half hours. Attended by 20 women teachers and mothers who are guardians of 8 urban and rural primary schools, namely:

2.1. Conditions of Approval:
The Trustees attendees were evaluated through the test Cognitive Processes for Learning: for students from 7th & 8th of basic education, EM & adults through the modality pre / post evaluation. Results expressed as a percentage of achievement and comparison chart are presented below:

Graphic Comparative Test of Cognitive Processes

The interesting thing is to appreciate the low morphology (Structures Language) and Understanding. Women indicate that at the course and post test, they feel more required to deliver more complex answers that are simply not required by the test. It tends to respond on.

Qualitative Evaluation.

In addition to what has already been described, it is interesting to record the most frequent manifestations of the participants:
-- "Very good progress"
-- "The techniques and games are very good for use at home"
-- "I thought it was very good… learned a lot and I was able to convey to my son"
-- "It was very good...achieves help my daughter because I had not previously controlled"
-- "After coming here for the first time and practiced what I have been taught much better result.
-- "Not my daughter nor I suffered as a mom."
-- "I have given my son story that is very skilful."

And, in allusion to the time that lasted the course which was considered briefly, which is expressed in phrases like
-- "I would have liked more time allocated"
-- "That would have been more meetings."

Finally, with respect to be viewed in future as members of the workforce, most state that there is no suitable jobs available, interesting and consistent with expectations in the province Valley Choapa. Besides collecting clear features of traditional thinking about the role of the woman to whom he viewed as i) mother and ii) housekeeper. However, expressing openness compared to the work part. Time. In conclusion, while women require more preparation than a cognitive behavioral and psychosocial to integrate the workforce, course instructor estimate that workers could be responsible, punctual, meticulous in detail, able to follow instructors, teamwork and assess new opportunities (although seeing more as a benefit for child especially in the economic sphere).
