Help Indian Children Get Clean Drinking Water
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesMore than 1 billion people lack access to safe drinking water. Unsafe drinking water is the #1 killer of children under the age of 5, and delays economic development. The residents of Kanganipatti know this statistic all too well. They share 1 hand pump, but it is unsafe and unreliable often failing for days or months at a time. The villagers use canal water for bathing and washing. With no latrines, open defecation is routinely practiced. Cholera & dysentery are common during seasonal periods ActivitiesThe project includes construction of hand pumps, drainage facilities, school sanitary complex, household latrines, and demonstration of rainwater harvesting structure.
