More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesThe ecosystems and biodiversity of the Galapagos Islands are threatened due to the introduction of non-native species, fishing in reserve areas, accelerated growth of the population, increase in marine traffic and tourism. Conservation activities conflict with the interests of politicians and businesses and are not sufficiently supported by locals. Arcandina strives to develop within the children of Ecuador and Latin America an identity that includes active conservation of the islands. Activities• Produce 36 educational television programs and two promotional educational spots; • Produce an educational campaign with schools; • Create Internet-based children’s network; • Implement a communication and educational campaign.
