Teachers are being trained to eliminate corporal punishment, use gender equity in the classroom, allow more girls to have the opportunity to attend school, and create a more interactive learning environment. More than 500 girls are now attending school in 12 villages--an opportunity their mother's never had!

The Alliance supports 11 elementary schools in rural villages where the Mali government does not fund schools. The Alliance works with villagers to pay salaries for 38 Malian teachers.
