More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Members of the Youth Association of Sica are poor. Many young people remain without work. The group asked the Lambi Fund for a micro-credit fund that would seed small organic farming enterprises for its members and provide capital to set up a small business at the local market.

Activities

Lambi seeds the loans to 50 members to buy supplies to start farming or to purchase goods to start small market enterprises. Lambi works with the farmers on organic farming techniques and trains the entrepreneurs on business management skills.

Why this Project is Important

Potential Long Term Impact

Within six months, 50 young people will have a full stomach, have enough food to help feed their families, and be on the road to working their way out of poverty.

Project Message

Young people in Haiti are eager to work but rarely have the opportunity to do so. A micro-credit loan can be a pathway to better life. Better than a handout, it encourages sustainability.
