Mission

AfriAfya’s vision is to have universal and equitable access to quality health and development information to create informed, empowered and healthy communities, contributing to social transformation. AfriAfya’s mission is to link information processes with communication technologies (ICTs) to generate, manage and disseminate information in rural and marginalized communities by innovatively applying modern and traditional information and communication technologies.

Programs

AfriAfya has set up community information resource centers to identify needs and to supply relevant health and development information in rural communities. These are equipped with ICT equipment and community change agents trained in its use, and in documenting and sharing information within communities. Support in application of the information is provided, as well as ongoing monitoring of the usefulness of the information provided. Local content produced is shared with other communities.
