The Smile Train
Mission
The Smile Train is dedicated to helping the millions of children in the world who suffer from cleft lip and palate by providing free surgery for children, free training for doctors and research to find a cure. Since 1999, we have provided free cleft surgery for more than 325,000 poor children in over 75 countries. The average cost of surgery provided by The Smile Train is $250.

In the past eight years, the Smile Train has established over 820 partners, in over 75 countries providing free cleft surgery for the world’s poorest children and training for local doctors.

Personnel Overview
Michele Sinesky - Special Project Coordinator
Michele is in daily contact with donors across the country who want to learn more about The Smile Train. A volunteer & then an employee of The Smile Train, she traveled to China several times where she witnessed the tragedy of unrepaired clefts. She is committed to helping poor children with clefts by empowering local doctors & passionate about empowering donors to raise funds for these children.
Satish Kalra - Regional Director, South Asia
Satish Kalra is an engineer by education. He completed his under and postgraduate studies in India and where he worked for over 30 years. He then joined The Smile Train as Regional Director for South Asia. Under Satish's leadership, The Smile Train has provided 44,000 free cleft reconstructive surgeries on kids who would otherwise never been able to afford them.
