More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

As a result of landmines, birth defects and disease, the need for wheelchairs in Colombia is tremendous. The beneficiaries of these 560 wheelchairs will be children, adults and the elderly. Many of them have been injured and displaced by the civil war. With the help of wheelchairs, the beneficiaries can rejoin their community in a productive way, fostering well-being, health, and social peace.

Activities

560 custom-made wheelchairs will be sent to a partner-organization in Colombia to distribute to regions most in need. Recipients are photographed with his/her wheelchair certificate, which is sent back to Wheelchair Foundation to give to the donor.

Why this Project is Important

Potential Long Term Impact

A wheelchair will give recipients the mobility necessary to receive medical treatment and job training to support their family. A wheelchair means freedom to attend school, get a job, go to church, and be part of the social fabric of society.

Project Message

When I look into the eyes of people who have received one of our wheelchairs, I know that we are making a difference in the world.
