More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Currently 2 million people are without adequate shelter. Aid agencies are struggling to keep up with the needy. While reconstruction takes years, many families can not wait and are undertaking rebuilding themselves. The danger is that many homes, while able to provide shelter in the short-term, will be structurally unsound if another earthquake hits. By distributing knowledge of earthquake-resistant housing construction we can make sure that homes are rebuilt safely.

Activities

This will include the collection and development of housing schemes, assessment and graphical representation of the best ideas into pictorial diagrams for step-by-step rebuilding. Manuals will be assembled and distributed in communities affected.
