Mission
The Near East Foundation, a US international NGO, builds and supports civil society organizations in African and Middle Eastern communities experiencing deep poverty, along with conflict, migration and climate change. NEFs 100-plus field staff mobilize these communities in peril to find homegrown solutions in agriculture, education, health care and job creation. NEF maintains headquarters in New York and field offices and programs in Palestine, Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, Mali and Sudan.
Programs
In a phrase, NEF currently works inprimary education for Moroccan Berber villages; multifaceted development in 127 villages in Malis northern Sahel; health clinic, school, and micro-credit for refugees in Sudans capital city; fish farming and boosting Jordanian community organizations & their income generation; wide-ranging assistance in 15 West Bank villages; and Cairo-based training/technical assistance/consulting on a range of issues throughout the region.

Tarek Zaghloul Abdel-Ghany Kotob - West Bank Country Program Director
Egyptian national, began international career in 1988 with Catholic Relief Services, later with Co-operation for Development in Egypt Office, then Middle East coordinator. Their joint program with Near East Foundation (NEF) in West Bank/Gaza from 1998-2002 led to current NEF association. Consultant for large Arab NGOs, World Bank, Egypt development programs.
