Mission

Tibetan Healing Fund (THF) is a non-profit organization. Since its founding in 2001, with the guidance of Dr. Kunchok Gyaltsen, THF's activities improve the healthcare, education and community development for rural Tibetan children and their families in the Tibetan regions of P.R. China. Our projects are designed to meet the acute needs of the community and provide for long-term sustainability. THF is based in Seattle Washington and Siling (Ch: Xining) mSo-Ngon Province (Ch: Qinghai) P.R China.

Programs

THF supports primary school children, creates Tibetan-language supplemental textbooks, conducts teacher trainings and holds symposiums on bilingual education. In addition, THF develops and implements appropriate public health initiatives, trains Community Midwives, creates Tibetan-language public health education and training materials for rural women and health professionals, provides health education outreach, holds regional conferences on women's health and is building the Birth Center.

Personnel Overview

Dr. Kunchok Gyaltsen - Doctor of Tibetan Medicine
Dr. Gyaltsen has been a Buddhist monk for over 25 years and a Tibetan doctor for 20 years. In 2001 Dr. Gyaltsen founded Tibetan Healing Fund. Dr. Gyaltsen has held the position of Executive Director of Kumbum Tibetan Medical Hospital since 2001. Currently, Dr. Gyaltsen is publishing articles on health issues in Tibet and is a PhD student at UCLA School of Public Health in Los Angeles.

Dr. Tseringy Kyi - Manager, Repkong Natural Birth and Health Center
Dr. Tseringy Kyi is an ethnic-Tibetan OBGYN with 20 years experience working with rural and urban Tibetan women. In addition to her work with Tibetan Healing Fund she has consulted for UNICEF, Save the Children and Trace Foundation.
