More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesOften women and children of the urban slums fall victims to adversaries like abuse, rape, suppression, humiliation, mental trauma and accidents. Languishing under poverty they can’t raise their voice for any help. Such miseries are traced out by the 24 hour helpline services of the project and immediate steps taken to rescue, provide shelter, medical aid and repatriate them by counseling. They are given vocational training and education for ensuring their self-dependency. ActivitiesWe provide medical and legal help, immediately rescue and refer women to short stay homes, locate missing women with the help of police, counsel and guide them, inform and make them aware of available services for protection. This footage -- which I took on my recent trip to Orissa, India -- captures women and young girls that have been rescued from dangerous conditions. Like all of us, these women desire a better life where they can learn, grow, and share in what the world has to offer. The Helpline project recently received full funding through GlobalGiving, which will enable the project leaders to continue their great work for three more years.
