More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Zimbabwe is a country in crisis, with inflation at 1000%, the highest in the world. In this climate, families, many of whom are burdened with HIV/AIDS victims or orphaned children, find meeting their basic needs to be increasingly difficult. Many are reduced to dependency on their neighbors. ASAP will reach out to 300 families in Nyanga West District of Zimbabwe with the drip kits and training that will empower them with knowledge and tools to feed their families and generate income.

Activities

ASAP will provide 300 Home Nutritional Garden Drip Irrigation Kits along with training in usage, maintenance of the kits, and permaculture techniques. Armed with new tools and skills, families will drastically enhance their quality of life.

Why this Project is Important

Potential Long Term Impact

ASAP is providing communities with the knowledge and tools to meet their own nutritional needs and improve household security. In addition to the health benefits that better nutrition provides, this project teaches independence and self-reliance.

Project Message

After two years, the women in Nyanga East continue to sell their herbs and produce all year long using drip irrigation kits.
- Joseph Miti, Project Manager-2004 LEAD drip irrigation project

By Tom Arseanult - President, December 20, 2007 06:44 PM

The rains in Zimbabwe arrived in late November. Let's hope they continue and the country enjoys a bumper harvest in 2008. Inflation is now over 1,500% and life is increasingly difficult with each passing day. Please take the time to enjoy our newsletter and to contribute to this worthwhile project.
