Mission

Adopt-a-Village is a small independent grassroots organization. Its major goal is to empower the Mayan people living in northwest Guatemala by providing training and resources so they may develop improved education and health conditions in their impoverished communities. We maintain no political, government, or religious ties.

Programs

Our programs focus primarily on education. We are helping students from 30 villages with secondary education needs by providing textbooks, manual typewriters, and teachers’ salaries. Our residential high school now nearing completion currently offers short term vocational courses in carpentry, farm animal management and health. We manage a program for orphans and widows, providing food and clothing, and an egg-producing self-help project from which families gain better nutrition and an income.
