The WorldFish Center
MissionThe WorldFish Center mission is to reduce poverty by improving fisheries and aquaculture. An international, non-profit, research organization, the Center works to reduce hunger and malnutrition in developing countries by making fish more readily available for food and income. We provide solutions based on science to increase fish production, guide the management of fisheries and reverse habitat degradation, and influence policies involving fish and the people who depend on them. ProgramsThe WorldFish Center both facilitates and conducts fisheries research. Working with national and regional partners, development agencies, conservation groups, policy-making bodies, and non-governmental organizations, the Center runs projects in Asia, Africa and the Pacific through our regional offices. A recent aquaculture project helping HIV/ AIDS affected householders in Malawi won the World Bank Global Development Marketplace Award for innovations to help poor people in Southern Africa.
