Grandma Catherine Masikini, 65

The day life was restored for me in my old age - Catherine cares for 7 grandchildren, four of whom are orphans. With money from the fishpond, she buys food to feed her family.

Gladys Wilson, 25

Longing for her own pond - Gladys is the sole guardian to her baby sister when their mother died. With four other friends who head orphaned families, she picked up pond management skills . We have already harvested 4,000 fingerlings sold at a total price of MK20,000 (US$146). We have agreed to use these first proceeds to construct two new ponds - we will continue to do so until each one of us owns her own fishpond
