More Information About this Project
Project Needs and Beneficiaries
In Demra and Kamrangir-Char a few households have hand wells, but most go out of operation during the dry season. During this time, community members have difficulty washing and bathing, forced to use water from distant ditches, lakes and rivers. Families often walk 800-1000 feet to collect water. This lack of access to safe drinking water is compounded by poor hygiene habits, causing an increase in water-related disease, which often causes developmental delays and even death in small children.
Activities
The project consists of constructing 26 fresh water connections, 50 household latrines and 5 community latrines. Project also includes health and hygiene education, community development, community ownership and technical training.
