Share & SaveMore Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesThe Bon are a minority ethnic group that live in mainly rural Nepal. Less than one-third of the children go to school because of insecurity and lack of schools. The Tibetan Bon community in Dolanji, India, is providing educational and hostel facilities for hundreds of Nepalese Bon children that have been sent by their parents in Nepal for schooling. Many other children are on the waiting list. ActivitiesThe Yungdrung Bon Monastic Center (YBMC) will provide hostel facilities and schooling for 25 Nepalese girls and boys for one year. Latest Update from the Field2008 UpdateBy Alison Hendry - Administrative Assistant, August 13, 2008 05:31 PM Creating Hope International is presently helping to support the education of 432 Bon boys and girls from Northern Nepal in three centers in Dolanji, India. There are now over 30 Bon girls from Nepal who are attending the school along with 402 other boys and girls from northern Nepal in the other two centers. Although the children are separated from their families they are very grateful to be in Dolanji attending school and living in a loving environment in the refugee camp.
