Mission
The Coastal Resource Center’s (CRC) mission is to improve the governance of coastal ecosystems worldwide. CRC integrates participatory democracy with knowledge on how coastal environments and their people function and change, to promote equity and coastal stewardship.
Programs
The Center has ongoing field-based programs in the United States, Asia, Latin America, and East Africa. These programs provide assistance with developing policy, offering technical assistance on a range of topics related to coastal management, monitoring and evaluation, training

Personnel Overview
Brian Crawford - Director SUCCESS Program
Crawford coordinates a team of staff working on international field programs to achieve the strategic objective of a global network of sites dedicated to active learning for coastal stewardship where projects can learn, share, and perfect coastal management practices on the ground.
Lesley Squillante - Deputy Director of the SUCCESS Project
Leads communications and capacity building initiatives at the Center and advices SUCCESS partners in the same.
Founded and co-leads CRC’s Women in Leadership Development program for mainstreaming of gender, population and demographic considerations in coastal programs.
Has worked in both public and private sectors, in both business and international development.
Maria Haws - Deputy Director, SUCCESS
Responsible for program development, administration and fundraising of international aquaculture and coastal management research and training program at University of Hawai’i Hilo with focus on pearl culture technology and environmental aspects of aquaculture. Develops collaborative research and outreach efforts with other researchers and institutions in the Pacific region.
