MIFUMI-Ensuring women's rights in Uganda
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesWe address the problem of widespread violence & abuse against girls, especially bride price violations that result in early & forced marriages. Our focus is in the rural areas of Tororo, East Uganda, where girls are more subjected to this practice, & have little chance to complete education. Youth in/out of school and young mothers will be targeted, as they are the groups most subject to domestic violence. ActivitiesEstablish 40 sports clubs in the district. 20 will be for school children & 20 for out of school youth. Sports facilities will be created: football field, a netball field & track. Children will also receive: sports kits, coaching, mentoring. Funding InformationTotal Funding Received to Date: $3,170 Funding InformationThis project is now in implementation and no longer available for funding. Received funds will be used to accomplish concrete objectives as indicated in the project's "Activities" section. Updates will be posted under the "Progress Report" tab as they become available. Donors' contributions and pledges to this project totaled $3,170. The original project funding goal was $805,000.
