Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Address the issue that underqualified women are responsible for looking after up to 70, 0-6 year old children from 6am -6pm in extremely poor and unsafe conditons with no toys and resources. The 7 creches are in downtown Johannesberg where the weekly workshops and visits take place. The teachers of the creches need to be qualified in Early Childhood Development in order to run creches where children are safe, stimulated and well educated and to get funding for resources to run activites.

Activities

The principles and teachers need to attend level 1 ECD (Early Childhood Devlopment) training where they will learn the essentials including life skills an educational and creative activities for children. They must also be trained in management.

This project is now in implementation and no longer available for funding. Received funds will be used to accomplish concrete objectives as indicated in the project's "Activities" section. Updates will be posted under the "Progress Report" tab as they become available.

Potential Long Term Impact

The project will qualify teachers of 8 creches therefore solving the problem of the children being in underqualified care and it will provide them with the right education to prepare them for primary school.

Project Message

After working with the teachers, they have made huge progress, their creches have improved in all aspects. If they can become qualified they will be able to run suficient and sustainable creches.
