Alive & Kicking Kenya
Mission
To hand-stitch good quality, tough, repairable and affordable leather footballs, volleyballs and netballs - each carrying health awareness messages, so that disadvantaged youngsters get to play more sport, and at the same time come to learn how to avoid contracting life threatening illnesses such as HIV/AIDS and Malaria.
Programs
1)The Manufacture and Distribution of leather Footballs, Netballs,and Volleyballs.
2) The printing of simple Health Awareness messages onto each ball.
3) Supplementing the messaging with the distribution of HIV/AIDS awareness poster sets featuring Kenya's top sports personalities.
4) HIV/AIDS awareness Roadshows that incorporate a presentation of the posters, Music & Drama and Sports Tournaments.

Personnel Overview
Martin Barnard - Managing Director
English born professional Engineer with over 25 years experience of making projects happen in Africa. Sees this as his most important project to date, and is involved 24/7. His previous experience includes 7 years as Regional Business Development Director of Brown & Root in East Africa. Keen sportsman. Played KFF Provincial League Soccer for three years in Nairobi's First Division.
Roy Wekoto - Finance and Administration Manager
Kenyan born graduate - currently sitting for his final professional accountancy exams (CPA - Section 4). Roy not only takes care of the accounts, producing monthly financial reports for the Directors, he is responsible for the HR side of the operation. Roy, who is 29 and single has now been with Alive & Kicking for 12 months. Prior to that, he spent two years with Standard Chartered Bank.
Moses Akama - Quality Assurance Manager
Kenyan born technician who has been involved in the manufacture of leather soccer balls for more than 30 years. Started work as a sticher for Orbit Sports, a Kenyan company that were making balls under licence from Adidas in the 70's. Rose through the ranks to become Quality Control Manager, in the process spending much time in France. Is the technical brain behind Alive & Kicking.
