Why this Project is Important
Potential Long Term Impact
The project aims to benefit the community of Jazmín immediately, though the success of the operation will create a replicable model for development that shows the power of community collaboration and sustainability.
Project Message
I believe people, given the awareness of the injustice of the world and the opportunity to engage it, would do so. It's not only about changing the world but changing oneself in the process.

Jazmín needs your help again!
By Alfinio Flores - Co-founder, January 18, 2008 04:12 PM
The Jazmín Safe Water Initiative is alive and well! To date, our group has raised over $9,000 through your support on Global Giving, and received a grant from Harvard for another $8,000, raising our total to $17,000. This funding has helped us to jumpstart our project and to successfully complete the community diagnostic necessary for water engineering. However, we hope to raise more to move forward with our project!
We are currently participating in America's Giving online competition in which the top 4 international projects, with the greatest number of individual donors, will win $50,000 each! For us, that means that our project would be fully funded!
We currently have 84 donors, and the closest competitor in the top 4 has 150. Please consider giving $10 before the competition end date (Jan. 31st)! Your $10 donation is a vote in our favor, and brings us one donation closer to winning us $50,000! Since the goal is to have as many different donors as possible, I humbly ask you to encourage three of your friends, family members, and peers to help us in our endeavor to provide safe water for the people of Jazmín , Costa Rica!!
If all of you who gave (and helped us win our last competition) give again and encourage several people to give, we could win this competition!
Thanks for your support, and best wishes!
Sincerely,
The Jazmín Safe Water Initiative
