Summary
200,000 indigenous Karen people of Burma continue to be persecuted and violated by the Burmese government. Solar energy will enable medical aid for refugees at two new large medical clinics in Burma.

Project Needs and Beneficiaries
Internally Displaced Karen living in Burma close to the Thai border are building two clinics with larger capacity and more needs than the 35 already completed in the 1,000 mile border area. Power is needed for medical procedures, cataract surgery, lighting, computers, refrigeration for vaccine storage, and sanitation of supplies. Up to 100 Karen patients will be able to receive treatment at each site for injuries endured as well as illnesses such as malaria, cataract, and parasites.
Activities
Green Empowerment will provide solar systems for two clinics, as well as train surgeons, medics, and repairmen to install and operate the systems. Each system includes 1000watt of solar panels.

Potential Long Term Impact
Solar power and training of individuals will give the persecuted Karen a vital resource to turn to as this conflict continues. The clinics will indefinitely provide medical aid and refuge to these oppressed peoples.
