Mission
OWDEBs work is to bring about qualitative changes in womens rights, and establish their dignity and empowerment through their own participation towards a democratic just society. OWDEBs work targets rural farmers, small businessmen, urban women, garment workers, and youth. OWDEB reaches over 60,000 people in Chittagong district. Its work focuses on domestic violence, workers rights, sustainable practices, gender equality, and womens empowerment through microfinance and good governance.
Programs
OWDEBs programs focus on four areas: Domestic Violence, Women Workers Rights, Gender Equality, Womens Empowerment and Good Governance. Programs include breaking the silence to end the violence against women; promotion of womens empowerment at the family level, and Worker rights for garment women workers.

Katherine Zavala - IDEX Program Coordinator
Katherine moved to San Francisco to pursue a Masters Degree in International Relations at San Francisco State University, which she completed in December 2005. Katherine began at IDEX by supporting the Latin America Program as an intern in 2005, and subsequently, as a Program Fellow in 2006. She started overseeing the Asia Program at IDEX in November 2006.
Shyamoli Mazumder - Chief Executive, OWDEB
A Bangladeshi ex-college teacher, poet and human rights activist is working as Chief Executive of a local NGO named OWDEB in her city Chittagong.
As a drama performer from 1982, she focused her ideas for promoting human rights through cultural activities , and participated in IDEA 2001, RTDIE England and IHRTP Canada in 2002 , ESCR Training - Portugal in 2003 and was selected as a Solida
