Progress report in the high efficient improved stove
By Debesai Ghebrehiwet - Project Leader, October 23, 2007 05:08 PM
The method of integrating high efficient stove with solar home system is just starting and shows wonderful result to modernize the village.
As an example here are two villages are beneficiaries of both the improved stove and the solar home system which cost only 170 USD per household with 2 bulbs and run radio with mobile charger. The name of the village are Ghirat Ghebru which has 140 households and Debrezien 100 inhabitance all of them received solar light and the stove.
This integrated energy is very important to improve the life of the villagers. The places are very remote there is not access to any electricity and therefore they depend to use the kerosene light and traditional stove which is inefficiency manner. They benefit is so great that village which was dark during the evening and was victim of hyena and other animal are now protected by the light alone. The solar light give the surrounding enough light and people and animals are able to look from the distance and find their way to reach their home even during the dark time. So the life of people and animal is saved. Besides students in the village use the light for studying and doing some house work during the evening. In this way the achieve extra income.
Helping such villagers to get all the energy they need is great job and thanks to donors and the Tech museum awards for innovation.
