Urgent Aid Needed for Earthquake Victims in Peru
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesOver 80% of homes in some communities have been destroyed by the 8.0 earthquake, along with major roads, impeding the delivery of outside aid. Among the towns nearest the epicenter are Chincha Alta and Cañete, where MADRE’s partner LUNDU works with Afro-Peruvian young people, women and families who were struggling to meet their basic needs even before the earthquake. ActivitiesIn the affected regions, LUNDU's Afro-Peruvian Youth Network has mobilized to channel donations to the families in need. MADRE is facilitating this process by collecting funds to be sent directly to LUNDU.
