More Information About this Project
Project Needs and Beneficiaries
On Aug. 15, a 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck in Peru, claiming the lives of hundreds and disaplcing thousands. With more than 55,000 homes destroyed, the people of this devastated region are in desparate need of assistance as they face a long road of recovery. Debris is creating a growing health crisis, and most displaced families have also lost their only sources of income. CHF's response is focusing on isolated communities that are not getting help otherwise.
Activities
CHF's is responding by teaching communities to build shelters, paying affected people to clear up the rubble, and providing small loans to help survivors get their livelihoods up and running as soon as possible.

Why this Project is Important
Potential Long Term Impact
With an eye on long-term development and recovery, CHF's approach is to focus on those activities that can go beyond survival for today, but rather can lay the foundation for a complete and effective recovery in the future.
Project Message
In San Jose de Los Molinos--where 80% of the homes were destroyed--our activities are giving hudnreds of poor families the help they need to begin the recovery process. We need your help to do this.
