More Information About this Project
Project Needs and Beneficiaries
Endemic to third-world populations, malaria not only negatively impacts quality of life, but also devastates already suppressed economies. The people of Mali, who consistently rank among the five poorest countries in the world, are among those who suffer from malaria. This years Mosquito Netting Initiative is designed to concentrate administrative health efforts to dispensing mosquito netting to every family in 24 villages in the Ouelessebougou region.
Activities
The Alliance has a unique delivery mechanism because of the already established partnership we have with 24 villages. Upon delivery, a health agent is trained to teach the villagers how to properly use the mosquito nets.

Latest Update from the Field
Mosquito nets distributed to 1286 families!
By Jodie Jensen - Program Director, August 13, 2008 04:29 PM
On April 27, 5 of our village health committees organized a malaria awareness day. Villagers saw the importance of mosquito nets and as a result we were able to distribute 1286 nets. This will affect the health and peace-of-mind of 5144 villagers. The demand has only increased as villagers have recognized how important a mosquito net is. But we are still 2474 nets short of our goal.
